he Life Torch Bodhi Temple is a community of Buddhist practitioners who are striving to accelerate their realization of Enlightenment while serving all beings with compassion.
ounded by Master Quan in 1994 as a non-profit, tax exempt corporation, the Life-Torch Bodhi Temple is a Tibetan lineage Vajrayana Temple of the Nyingma and Dzogchen traditions. The Temple is dedicated to training anyone with a sincere interest in improving his or her own heart and mind. Should your goal be the vow to attain Enlightenment in this lifetime, Master Quan will teach you the arts, knowledge and practices that lead rapidly toward that goal. We have various Programs of training available.
In teaching this Ancient tradition of Buddhism in America, a very important goal of the Temple is to connect the experience of Buddhism with emerging scientific knowledge, especially in physics, the ecological and earth sciences, healing and medical sciences. Insights from these fields are creating technologies that can help measure spiritual progress from an objective view. The era in which we live is rife with increasing earth disasters including fires, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, plagues, global warming, rapid extinction of species, and depletion of natural resources. The great changes extend into the ionosphere, the solar system, the Milky Way and beyond. The current catastrophes we are experiencing are a reflection of the terrible state of the collective human heart. A pressing goal of the Temple is to teach effective ways to elevate the human heart individually and collectively thereby to lessen the negative impact of catastrophic change. ltimately, the goal of the Temple is show you how to free yourself so you can free others from suffering needlessly in this life and in the endless cycle of births and deaths. As many people pursue this path, which is the path of a Bodhisattva, a new civilization can flourish based on the highest human potential, enlightenment.
ur logo is a symbol that also radiates energy. The logo is a picture of and energy release of the 8-Word Core Dharma of the Life Torch Bodhi Temple. The logo shows a flame over an infinity symbol. The sideways figure eight represents the five stages of activity of the universe and how it always returns to itself. This energy flow can be directly experienced in the Spiral Dragon Dharma Gate practice. The flame is the spark of the mind that each person can ignite to become a lamp and a light for the world. The three, swirling inner sparks show that we can create anything and reflect the three subparticles of a quark.
he logo is also an energy connection to Life Torch Bodhi Heart. You can try one of two experiments now. Take a deep, relaxing breath or two. Put yourself into a comfortable, awake, but relaxed posture as you look at the computer screen. Simply focus your attention on the logo for a while without thinking. Note any impressions you have no matter how subtle they seem.
nother experiment is to hold the center of your palm toward the logo as you focus your attention in a relaxed way. You may feel some sensation in your palm, or in your body.
